Midwest Employee Spotlight January 2020
This month we are putting the spotlight on someone that has been with Midwest Goods for more than two years. She has been in 6 different roles within the Human Resources Department, she has counseled and molded office and warehouse employees, she always has a fountain drink in her hand and has probably told everyone at least once to GET IT TOGETHER. You probably have guessed it, Decembers spotlight is being put on Natasha Khan!
Natasha has been in every role of HR and when she started in 2017 she was the HR department. She handled employee relations, payroll, recruiting, onboarding, training all while working directly with 4 owners. She has been more than an HR member for a lot of the employees. She has been a counselor, mentor, trainer, and work mom for some. While Natasha was reminiscing about her time with the company all she could say is “OMG!” “ The company has come a long way and it’s hard to put it into words but they have grown and are on their way to being a real company,” stated Natasha.
Midwest is a company that grew overnight but is still in the process of building a foundation and structure for the organization. Natasha has seen the company go from 60 to 150+ employees. She has worked directly with the owners of the organization and as “ crazy as they are, I enjoyed it but as the company grew, the direct interaction became limited, which took some time to adjust to.” stated Natasha. She described Midwest Goods Inc. as a loyal, diverse step-family. The loyalty comes from giving the employee a chance and understanding and stepfamily because no family is perfect and there may be disagreements but it comes from the passion that the employees have.
So what advice does Natasha have for you? “Don’t listen to respond, listen to understand and comprehend what is being said, learn from others' mistakes and if you work hard you will make it.” Natasha has definitely made it, regardless of the position or title she has been in, she has proven her loyalty to the company and has proven herself to be an asset to the HR team. She enjoys her current role the most because it allows her to interact with the employees and hold them accountable. Six roles in almost 3 years and Natasha’s is most proud to have played a role in the training and molding of other HR members. Those that have been with Midwest for some time, have been a witness and know the heart, the dedication and the long hours that Natasha has put into the company.
On behalf of Midwest Goods, Natasha Khan, Thank you for all that you have done and for always leading with a mindset of “ things will get better.''
